Anyone with Fiberglass Hoods .... ??

I think I have finally found the hood I want and it is fiberglass ... I know these hoods require more preparation, but I was wondering how the paint matches with the rest of the car. Does it look the same, or can you see a difference? Thanks!

If you get a good hood like Steeda, HO Fibertrends, Kaenan, or Cervinis the prep shouldn't be too bad. If done right, it will match the rest of the car. Mine does.

Love my Harwood Ram Air but it took ALOT of trial fits and grinding/filing/sanding to get it just right. Must have taken it on and off 10 times. The paint prep and painting went well though, not a problem.

Heard nothin but good things about Cervanis stuff. I would buy from them if I ever do it again.

I have a Cervini's 2000 Cobra R lift-off hood. It fit perfectly "out of the box." The only complaint I have is that it is 10 pounds heavier than some of the other lift-off hoods. The paint shop said it was the best aftermarket hood they had ever seen. My paint matches OK except for the fact that I haven't waxed my car in over a year. By the way, your stock hood is fiberglass too.

That's probably about right. When I had my Cervini's hood painted, the paint shop didn't want to fool with it. Some of the cheaper hoods are a pain. Anyway, they asked one of their techs if he wanted to do it "on the side," and he did it for me for $150 including paint.

Most non-painting people won't get that good of a deal to paint a hood. By the time you buy basecoat (color), clearcoat, basemaker, clear activator, clean-up thinner, etc., you will have $150 in paint materials. Jim, sounds like he painted your hood basically for free.....good deal.
