I'm thinking about getting some longtubes this winter, but I need to pass emissions in ct. Just wondering if anyone is using a catted h or x w/ longtubes - I've seen it mentioned that with the cats so far back from the engine they may not get hot enough to work right. Anyone getting through emissions with this setup?

I have my catted BBK H-pipe on the way. (Got a good deal on ebay) I run the offroad version currently. I have passed emissions w/o cats on 3 of my Mustangs. Where in CT are you? I am there pretty often.

What did you do to pass? My car makes your eyes water right now and I don't see it passing like it is.. not to mention the visual inspection.

When I get my longtubes I'd rather not worry about buying 2 h pipes and shuffling them for tests, or welding heat shields on an o/r. Let me know how your bbk works out. btw I'm in Stratford.

I passed CT emissions with a BBK catted h-pipe and long tubes on my carb'd car. Should be no sweat as long as the car is in good tune and up to operating temp.

I think when you hear of people running lt's with cat'd midpipes and the cats do not get hot enough those are just isolated experiences, not everyone has that problem, usually there are unique circumstances. I bought a car from Norwich CT once and it had long tubes with a cat'd h pipe and it was an older guy who owned it and had it inspected 3x and didn't know what it had on it for exhaust......He just knew it had that lol, "Mustang Rumble" <---
