You'll only hear "pinging" under load. Whether it be pushing it hard and revving it out through the gears, or lugging it up a hill in 5th, the engine needs load on it to make itself apparent. It can be described as the marbles in a tin can, but with less of a tinny sound to it. More like hearing the faint sound of someone rattling a drumstick against a counter top in the room next to you. It isn't a constant, repetitive uniform sound with a steady beat, but more of a high speed random "tick" that makes itself more apparent as load and/or RPM increases.
that right there is the type of description i need. i dont have that while getting on it. i dont hear anything like that.
i do get somthing that sounds like that during idle, which is weird. i only hear it like once then it goes away for a min then i will hear it and it will go away again. on and off. once i gas it i cant hear it anymore. i wonder if its just a sound the cams make? seems to random though.
i raced twice in the past 2 weeks and didnt hear any crackleing under ful throttle.
wonder if i just cant hear it over the exhaust when driving hard.
