OK, here is the scoop. 91LX, @3100LBS, 306, forged pistons, AFR 165s, EDEL Performer intake, 65 TB, 73MAF, 24LB inj, NO AC, NOsmog, NO PS, 373 gears, alum driveshaft, 17 inch wheels and a 100shot

Behind all this is a freshly rebuilt to factory specs AOD with factory converter. It is shifted by a B&M hammer shifter.

Here are my questions:

1) In the past, I have ran AODs and the problem I had was holding 2nd gear. I always did the old 1-D-1 shuffle to hold 2nd. Now with this B&M shifter, I dont believe I will be able to do that, since you slap it and it upshifts. My question is what is my best way to hold 2nd to the end of my powerband?
Would a shift kit remedy this and if so, which one/brand.

2) Which stall speed would best suit my needs? It is not a drag car but also not just a daily driver. I dont car too much for the makers of them , just wanting stall speeds recommendations. Others on this site have said anywhere from 2200-3500, which is quite a range.

I am just putting everything together and about to order the converter and whatever else I need this week so any quick help would be grealy appreciated.

Also, what kind of HP numbers should this combo be putting out at the wheels, @270?

Thanks in advance
Chris

See , that is the thing. I paid 1200 for the entire setup top to bottom from my best friend. He is putting in a 393 in his 91 and he offered me the setup for next to nothing. I will more than likely go with the Edge converter. I just want to ensure the trans doesnt shift out @4500 from the 2-3 shift. If a shift kit will accomplish this, that will be my solution. I just need to know that 2nd will hold for the entire powerband.

OK, the thread is now invalid. I SOLD OUT. The guy I bought the motor setup from just agreed to sell me his 6 month old Tremec for dirt cheap. So now, instead of putting money towards a converter, valve body, or shift kit I will be gettting a Centerforce and Pro50

So, if anyone needs/wants an AOD that has just been rebuilt to factory specs with converter, B&M shifter, trans cooler, and processor for AOD car, IM me and maybe we can work something out.
