Ok.. another retarded question from me.

Im putting my transmission cooler lines on but I need to know which goes where. Theres two outlets on the tranny, a top and bottom and two on the radiator.. top and bottom. Also, the tranny and radiator are in my F-150.

I tried to see if there were any markings on the housing or anything by the outlets on the tranny saying which is which but I have a catalytic converter that makes it impossible to see anything. Its damn near impossible to even get my hand in there..

um, would guys on an F150 forum know? best i can offer is to look up a thread by The Shape. he started the thread and there was a lot of good info on it - i know they discussed which line was what but i dont know if that would help with your different application.

good luck.

Yeah I found it,

Doesnt help me too terribly much but I appreciate the info none-the-less. I reposted on a couple F-150 sites and posted on FordForums.com in their F-series section. Hopefully I'll get some info from someone there on it.

In truth its no real rush. Its gonna be a while before I get this throttle cable crap out of the way and the intake tube ordered and installed. I just want to get as much done as possible so as soon as those two are in I can get her to the shop and get the timing totally worked out, then take it out on the highway and open her up.

I had the engine started and was just staring at it (I do that alot..) it sounds extremely mean and a little throttle and the whole truck shakes. Man I cant wait to get this sucker on the street and kick a little ass. Granted theres no chance in hell I'm gonna get any form of traction.. but still, =]

AOD cooler lines

First, if you're SURE you've got an AOD, - I understand
there were at least a couple different models of automatic
put in the same year light trucks.

if it is an AOD, the return line is the bottom line on the trans
and the bottom line on the radiator (at least it is on my 89
car). I just had mine out and went thru it again and this time
I added a remote filter into the return line.

just FYI -

If I understand what you are asking, you want to know which port goes to which side of the cooler? If that is what you are asking, it doesnt matter that much. I do suggest that you add an external cooler or bypass the stock cooler all together.

If you use the factory cooler and an aux cooler then you need to route the fluid into the factory then out to the aux, then back to the transmission.

You need a friend to help out. Make sure that the tranny lines are hooked and watch wich one spits out the fluid when running.

PS it would be a good idea to have the tranny squared away before running the engine. No telling what damage you are doing to the pump if running it dry.

AOD COOLER LINE IN & OUT

O.K. heres the low down on transmission cooler in/out ports.

1. AOD the top port is the tranys out -> to cooler and the bottom port is the
return line to -> trany.

2. on the AODE and the 4R70W these are reversed from the AOD...

This should help.
