Just got one in a GT and it goes well in 1st, gets into 2nd only for about 2 seconds until it bogs up to third. It will not hold second. What can I do to fix this? I did search but you can imagine how much turned up after searching the engine for "AOD Problem"

are you sure that it is the tranny? How does the car run otherwise? How does it run/shift in 3rd and OD?

I would pull the codes, fix the problems, if there are any. Then check the pressure cable going to the tranny. If you still have a problem you will need to rebuild the tranny... or atleast rebuild what is broken (2nd gear stuff)

I dont know if its the tranny because Ive been driving t-5's since I had my license. Im new to these slushboxes. Car runs good, not the motor... It just will not hold second. It bumps up to third and wont jump down unless the pedal is mashed for a couple seconds.

For the most part that is just how the stock AOD valvebody works. There is only one way to hold second and it is a big . The 1D1 shuffle is the only way to hold second but it will usually end up burning up the OD band. Ask me how I know .

Getting a shift kit like a transgo and adjusting the TV cable will help. With my transgo shift kit it will stay in second til about 3k if I am not mistaken. I still can't hold second. The only way that I know of to actually hold it in second gear is a lentech valve body with and OD switch. Basically you keep the stock shifter and if you want to shift it manually the 1 is first gear, D is second gear and OD is drive with a switch to turn the OD on and off. Kinda like new automatic transmissions with the OD switch.
