Aod Roller Lcutch Upgrade

Yea most good shops do this when they upgrade the AOD. Lentch, Art Carr etc...... But youu can still get the one way clutch, froma trany parts shop. The same thing is used in one of the chevy trannies.(400, 350 or 700r4,, can't remember exact)

I think it should,,since the rest does. Plus you get the 4R intermediate pressure plate so you can run 4 intermediates cltuches instead of 3..

Nah, man. Get a core. I used to have a smashed AOD core that I used for parts. The OWC is pretty durable and I consider it to be worthy of re-use. I only swapped between AOD's so far so I cannot comment on chebby trannys but I wrecked my original OWC from the 86 mercury AOD and replaced it with the used (gasp!) 88 gt AOD's OWC and it works great 2 years now.

Ever seen how the roller one works? It's neat. It's a bunch of rollers on ramps. If the drum turns the wrong way, the rollers ride up the ramp and wedge into the case rim, stopping the assembly from spinning. But once it's spinning the right way, those rollers are just sitting pretty out of harms way. So get a fresh one from a trans shop (trans-star in NH just absolutely MUST have these...heck they had everything else in stock when I just walked in there) or salvage one from a core and dont worry.

When I went to the local ford dealership looking for a front main pump....they basically told me to get a core and not pay the $175 they would have to charge me. I got the whole transmission for $100 (or was it $125? either way) and ended up with oodles of yummy backup parts and incidentaly rebuilt a transmission with a 7 tooth tailshaft (86 marquis v6) since my 23 tooth speedo gear reads real close with 4.56's! What luck. Happy accident

grab the core and use EVERYTHING out of it...i replyed on Corral also.

7 Tooth output is notoriously weak - but I would use one to get the speedo correct also!
