AOD sownshifts itself into D cruising on highway, then shifts back???

Sorry, i'm a retard and stangnet won't let me edit the title, hence: "sownshifts". Oh well, you get the point.

like it says, cruising @70 today in OD, no acceleration, and out of nowhere it just shifts into D for three or four seconds, then back into OD. A few seconds later, does it again. haven't had a chance to check the fluid yet, but what coukld be possible problems?

Could be a toasted OD band.

TV Cable may need to be adjusted or low on fluid... or worst case your OD band is almost shot

tranny shop said it might've been some sticky valves. Fluid is fine in both color and level, plus had a filter and fluid change not more than a month ago. I've been on the highway twice since then and nothing. So, maybe a freak thing...

sticky valves or leaky end plugs. aod valvebodies are notorious for leaks. its likely losing the governor pressure on the 3-4 shift valve.

do a manual 2nd downshift, see how the engine braking feels.

Yeh, same thing the shop said. Still hasn't done it again. I'll be sure to be keeping an eye on it, though...
