Well i got the word, i have to convert my car to a AOD or its staying untagged and uninsured.. so im going to just throw a AOD in with a stall and shift kit, manual valve body etc.. at the same time im retaining my clutch pedal when i have the chance to swap it back oneday. Just like to know whats involved and what i need? i have a kickdown cable in my garage for one from god knows what, and i can get one in a couple weeks with just a road trip. Electronically is there anything that needs to be done? How about speedo setup? would my hedman longtubes fit (plenty of clearance with the T5)... i dont care what ya think wether i should keep it or not.. this is the only way i get to drive my pride and joy on the street.. also i did a search.. couldnt come up with the hard facts that i need.. any help would be appreciated, thanks

Why is it you have to convert it to an AOD? Why cant you tag it or insure it?

You will need the auto computer and wiring harness , kick down cable , tranny lines to your radiator , not sure if your throttle body has the proper connections but you will need those , shifter , flex plate , torque converter , top bellhousing bolts , shifter , shifter cable , and tranny mount .

I may be missing a few items but I'm sure someone else can fill in , those are the major things . I will be doing my T-5Z swap soon so I will probably have a lot of those parts available to you .

Let me know , good luck!

im 16, its my hotrod that i've been building since i turned 15 and my plan backfired on me when they realized the power it has.. so it right now is a dragstrip car until i get a AOD in it.. i thought it wasnt necessary to have a at computer? i have an A9L in the car as of now.. as far as harness goes and other parts my uncle has out of one.. but it came out of a carb'd 85.. so is it neccesary for me to run a automatic computer?
