I am doing the swap with my buddy on his notch and so far so good. anyway this is in reagrds to electrical issues. What do we need to buy??
1. Back-up light harnes
2. nuetral start switch
3. anything else?
what gets re-used, or modded?
ALSO- When the AOD comes out today, what do we take off and reinstall? My head is spinning with different opinions and terms! Please, someone spell it out. thanks:SNSign:

you dont NEED those electrical things. THere should be a plug from the car for the AOD, and it should fit a plug on the t5, i didnt know what it was, but i have reverse lights though, so i am fine with it.

I didnt mess with the NSS crap. I looked for the connector under the dash, but coouldnt find it. The car starts fine, its just able to start without the clutch being pressed. lol i had no clutch cable in the car for a bit, and i had to get it somewhere, i started the car in gear, worked great, doubt its good for the starter though.

i started having brake light problems when i got done with my swap. The switch on the brake pedal moves and i cant get it to stay.

I was able to reuse the AOD crossmember, people said up and down that they wouldnt work, well they were wrong, mine worked fine, the studs are right on the end of the slots but it works great.

the tranny mount is the same for AOD and t5, it can be reused, but its a good time to get a new one for peace of mind.

thanks for the reply. Actually, in dealing with your brake light issue; did you remember to put those bushings back on the brake pedal actuator rod? Its a bitch getting it all lined up under there, but their are 2 little plastic pieces that need to go back on there to keep pressure on that switch.

As for the swap, I have a new crossmember and exhaust hanger so that isnt an issue.
~~Does the nuetral safety switch on an AOD double as a reverse light sensor on the T5???~~~~

I got a transmission harness off of an car with a t-5 and unplugged it by under the carpet by the driver side kick panel everything is plug and play. There should be a place under the dash with jumper in it for the Clutch safety switch. Hope this helps

Here are a few sites that helped me out when I did my AOD to T-5 swap.

Good parts list and write up
http://www.wcfords.com/articles/tech/t5swap/t5swap.html

This one requires subscription, which I was somehow able to bypass before?
http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2001/03/t5swap/

This one is for Cougars but still may be worth looking at

Good luck

Thanks for the replies, but I still need to know some things. The AOD is out. We removed the neutral start switch. What do I do with it? Does it double as the reverse light switch. (It seems to be a simple pressure switch.) If so, where do i wire it to the car. We really dont care about clutch interlock, but reverse lights are a must! Thanks in advance!!

You dont need to take anything out of the AOD, just toss that whole thing aside. All the switches you need should already be on the T-5. The NSS is on th top cover closest to the bell housing and the Back Up Light switch is on the left side of the transmission case about in the middle.
