aod to 5 speed

I've searched the forums for information on an AOD to 5speed swap.
I have all of the hard parts installed. And ofcourse it won't start. Now do I need the computer for a 5 speed to replace the AOD computer? And is the 5 speed harness a sub harness? or is it the entire hunder hood harness?

in order for the the car to start, the automatic harness must be plugged into the little computer on the transmission. so pull that off the tranny and plug it back in. replacing the computer should also be done. the auto computer would not cause the car not to start. it will however still try to tell the automatic tranny, that you have no more, to shift causing the car to hesitate.
so if you buy a manual tranny harness and a 5-speed computer the problems will be solved.

the harnesses are different between the auto and manual. it is a sub harness that plugs in on the passenger side firewall near the top. it should be easy to spot. just look for the wire loom that runs down the bellhousing and follow it up. aside from that, the auto eec will run the car, the computer will just pull fuel and timing when it would normally be shifting the auto. you can either get a t4m0 eec or have a chip burned that removes all of the automatic functions. either of those 2 methods will work. is the car turning over like it wants to start, or does it do nothing when you turn the key? if it does nothing, you may have forgotten to rig the automatic shifter cable under the bezel to make the car think it is in park. that would be the first place i would start looking for the cause.

You need to bypass the neutral start switch on the Trans harness

Thanks for the replys. That's what I needed. I contacted Mike at Preformance Mustang parts and I have that 'puter and harness on the way!!
