I have argued with a few people here about an AOD torque converter having lock up. I have been saying that they don't have lock up. The reason why I have said this is because if you look at a hydrualic chart for an AOD there is nothing there for lock up. Also we all know that an AOD is not controlled by the PCM its controlled by the TV cable which controls the pressure internally for shifts. Well I have done my research and made calls to converter companies about thisand asked them about it.
I was wrong AOD's do have lock up. They have a damper inside of the converter which is applied by centrifugal force. The reason why I said that they don't have it was because you never feel it. In most transmissions you feel lock up because its either done by hydraulic operation or by a solonoid controlled by the PCM. I have been a transmission tech for 12 years. So I was missled by a few people.
