AOD Transmission help

I have a 1992 mustang 5.0 automatic trans. i was wondering what other transmissions can i use my car? For example can a 92 thnderbird trans fit my car?

The '92 should be fine if it's an AOD,and not an AODE (I don't remember when those came out).You may have to swap on your shift lever to the side of the tranny.Compare them and see.Also,some of the AOPD's had a longer tailshaft.Watch for that as well.Otherwise,you'll have to shorten your driveshaft (That cost me $35.00).

The t-bird is the same length as the mustang, but I think 92 was a crossover year so it may be the AOD or AODE.
