I don't really notice it until about 50ish then the only real way I notice it is that my shifter starts rattling. It started after my aod swap into my '69. So the front universal to me was in question, kind of loose, just didn’t seem wide enough for the aod yoke. I’m pretty sure it is the problem.

So my questions are
1. Is there a different option for the front universal for the AOD slip yoke? Current is for a '69/fmx/351w universial (kept the origional driveshaft, didn't need shortining)
2. Should I have the whole assembly balanced? Think it will help?

You changed the transmission and not the universal, why should the universal be the problem now?

well i was thinking because it is a different slip yoke up front and maybe it doesn't fit the way it should. i had 2 front yokes, 1 was bad on the surface the seal rode on, the other is a new ford part, both same and for an aod. yes i did put in new universial, front and back.

Did the universals measure (comparing the new AOD yoke and old driveshaft)exactly the same cap to cap? You can get universals with different cap sizes and different cross dimensions so it fits correctly if that's what is wrong.

FYI also...
Some AOD/E's and all the 4R70Ws also have larger diameter output shaft bushings & larger diameter yokes. All models have the same 28 spline output shaft profile, so small bushing tail shaft housings can be swapped on from any model, including from an AOD. This is also the same as C-4 transmissions which makes swaps easy.
