I may have to replace my aode in my just bought '95 Gt. I have future plans to beef up the motor with hi-po stuff.

Is there a preference for either tranny, or is an AODE just as good as an AOD?

I hear different views from magazine articles about the electronics on the AODE, wheather it's a god thing or not.

So what's the concensus?

They say the AODE will hold more power when properly built. But that's just what I read.

If it were me, and it is since mine has gone out... I would stay with the AODE and not screw with the computer stuff. If I were to go to the trouble of changing the tranny for something different, I would put a 5-speed in and forget it.

What kinda power are you talking?

A local shop that Art Carr recommended said that with Art Carr's input shaft, Diode kit and basic upgrade kit (about $700 for all) and the proper converter, the tranny can easily handle 600HP. (he's running cars like that at Moroso to prove it)

Are you going higher than that?

GCOMFX.COM,
I can get a used warranteed aode for 500.00 with converter, Ill do that most likely. Im buying the car for 1500.00. Thats also with the ac going bad, but thats a good price regardless. The car is from a friend so I know about it.

Do you like the 3.73's, or would you go to 4.10's?

Personally the 3.73s are enough for me. On the juice I cross the finishline at around 5,200 in third.

I also drive the crap out of my car when it's up and running. 167,000 miles on it right now. So I need all the gas mileage I can get.

I replaced my AOD for a Art Carr beefed AOD in my 90LX. Went from 13.20's to 12.80's just by changing the tranny. Purchase one that can handle anything thrown at it.

This might sound like a stupid question, but what does AOD and AODE stand for?

I love 4.10. However, I'm strongly considering going with 4.30 when I decide to "freshen up" everything in the rear.

Yup we have an electronicly (that spelling just looks wrong - LOL) controlled O/D. AOD have O/D in the shift pattern, ours is a whimpy looking button.

Like what has been previously stated, the AODE can be built to with stand some significant power levels. I believe the AODE also has stronger (more) clutches than the AOD?
