Aod vs Five speed

good points,

The car is not a daily driver, wont ever be. I can drive a stick no problem and shift at the track no problem, I consider myself a fairly good driver. I was running 13.8's in my 5 speed stang that was stock except for 3.73's so i think thats pretty good.
Now i want to have a nice car thats fast and I dunnooo. I cant make up my mind, i think im just gonna stick with a built aod with a manual valve body. But i love dumping the clutch on slicks, wtf man, why is this so diffucult.

If your not stabbing a clutch and grabbing the next gear, are you actually driving the car or just going along for the ride? Think about it, lets say theres you and your girlfriend (who isn't into cars at all). With the 5-speed car there is realy no chance for her to go out there and run it hard, if she can even drive it. With an auto car if she is willing to floor it, theres a good chance her timeslips are going to be lower. Thats why I will always run a stick shift. Hate to see joe schmo be able to drive the car faster merely because there is no real driving going on.

Exactly. Your gf will be able to go faster in your car because she's lighter, that's how much driving is involved with an auto.

Yes that video is where it's at. And Blackened you saw Jim's car (the red coupe) at Etown. How sick is it to bang second with the front tires a few feet in the air, and then have it come back up through some of second...

awe man you guys are killing me, I miss banging gears in my 88 so bad, and then when i see my buddys stang i get jealous and awe shiit i think i changed my mind again. This is a drivers car stick FTMFW, i think, lol. I dunno i have been looking at turbo's, for next years project. I want to get the car finished and on the road for summer, but then i was thinking maybe next winter i would throw a single on her. My buddy had a gn through high school and that was sick, IF i turbo the car, i would definately want a auto. Nothing like boosting through with no rpm or boost drop while shifting.

**** yeah man, that car was naaaaasty. Dragged the bumper about 200 feet out then bounced on the 1-2 shift and carried them halfway through 2nd. Just badass.
