Hey all, I need to build up my stock AODE to handle around 400+ horsepower. I've been looking at parts and this is what I've come up with. Could anyone please look over what I'm looking at, and provide your input! Thanks!

Here is my plan, I have a source of cheap labor... I just need to buy the parts. Here is my list:

From this website http://www.ford-aode.com/

#1. AODE master rebuild kit.

Desc. is: "It comes with all Red Eagle clutches and Kolene steels, high performance direct RedEagle PowerPack, the #8 AODE / 4R70W Fairbanks high performance TransAction kit. This TransAction kit includes a newly designed OD servo piston and a no leak performance design 2-3 accumulator piston. Includes steel boost valve and sleeve to replace worn OEM valve"

#2. (Also from that site) Extreme Duty hard intermediate shaft for AODE / 4R70W transmissions

#3. The Lentech Street Terminator AODE Valve Body

#4. Edge Converter (3000ish stall)

#5. Steeda Transmission Fluid Cooler

-------- The one thing I was considering is the mechanical diode conversion kit for 1992 - 1998 AODE and 4R70W transmissions. (Also on www.ford-aode.com) ...along with whatever else is needed.

Am I going over board here, is this enough, is my money spent better somewhere else? Any input on my plan, and suggestions, experiences would be MUCH appreciated!

I would say yeah, the diode kit too.

Basically it's this:

1. converter
2. shift kit
3. cooler
4. rebuild kit (clutch/bands, etc)
5. diode kit
6. input shaft.

BTW..with your mods, you "should" already have a cooler on there.

With a shift kit and converter and cooler, you may be able to take 400HP without the other stuff for now, although it depends on the how the car has been driven till now.

Before you do anything you should read the tranny tech in www.tccoa.com .

Jerry the guy who helped ford with the 4r70w wrote a big write up on what to replace ect. It's good info.

And you need the diode no matter what.
