Hello,

Got a quick one for y'all. I need to toss a trans cooler on the 94. In searching old threads, there seemed to be some debate (LOL) on which stock cooler line (into the radiator) was the output from the stock cooler. I will check it myself, but wanted to know beforehand since i am mocking up the brackets and running the lines (it would be cool to know if i should go high or low with the lines).

Thanks for any input.

The upper on the radiator is the output (return) line.

cool, thanks guys.

One more question - I have not done a trans cooler before. I am using a stacked plate cooler - does it matter which way the cooler is oriented (is there a 'top' and a 'bottom')? i was going to mount it lengthwise, so the lines go straight out toward the side. sound alright?

And i tried to think about dynamics. I was gonna have the outlet be on the bottom (gravity helping out and all that), but then i thought that having the outlet on top might help purge air that is in there. thoughts?

I welcome any other tips/tricks.

I run a B&M Supercooler and bypassed the stock radiator cooler completely. I did this because my supercharger tubing gets in the way but also for simplicity. I have it mounted parallel to the ground near the bottom and it's ran great like that for 5 years now. Good luck!

Thanks Trick95. I sorta figured that it did not matter how the cooler was mounted (meaning you can mount it any possible way you want? seems like it), but I really wanted to make sure on that. I had actually thought of doing it at about a 45* angle and using gutter flashing as an air dam to get air across the coil. i like your creativity. (I am not one to strap things through existing coils).

when I hooked up my B&M super cooler on my 92 I called B&M for insight.. The tech said it could be mounted in any possition I wanted and it would flow in either direction. Basically fool proof. If yours is the same design I would think the same directions would apply?

I was just on their site last night lookin for universal stacked plate cooler info. (is a Super-cooler a stacked plate cooler? I think so). mine is an FRPP unit, but it looks very similar.

I appreciate your input. I was gonna try and call and ask, but this is not a good day of the week to do so. Ill toss it in there how i wanted to. Thanks again.

did you guys install yours without removing your bumper? i'm going to install mine tommorow and wanted to know before i get under the car

Yeah it can be done without pulling the bumper off. You have to be a little creative with your hands through the grill opening and bumper holes etc but it can be done!

when i mocked mine, i removed the upper radiator plastic cover dealie. you might not need to - I am a fairly big guy and have big arms (they dont fit through the facia opening).

Yeah the B&M is a stacked plate cooler. Here is the discription from summit's website on it

good to know (I had not read any reviews, but I figured if the stacked plate FRPP tranny coolers were like the stacked plate FRPP oil coolers, it should be alright. ).
