Are 2.3 (N/A) and 5.0 starters interchangeable

My N/A 2.3 will struggle to start when cold, and then when warm will turn over once, half a second later turn again, and then stop, like the starter is trying to crank an 18:1 motor or something. Are the 2.3 and 5.0 starters interchangeable? Id love to buy a high torque ministarter and be done with it forever.

Not interchangable. but there is a high torque starter on later cars my 93 mustang has one as do rangers. It does require a minor wiring change due solinoid being on the starter. Also if you buy a genuine Motorcraft one it will come with instructions and wire to change over. Motorcraft no longer sells the old style. HTH
