I am looking at replacing all the weatherstripping on my 90 LX and was wondering how the 5.0 resto and Blue Oval kits and others hold up to original Ford. I know I can save quite a bit money going with aftermarket but just want to make sure it is worth it to go cheap.

I have searched a few of the topics but most are several months old.

Thanks for your help.

Some aftermarket weatherstripping will work fine for certain pieces, others seem to not work nearly as well as OEM.

I have replaced almost all the weatherstripping on my LX.

My .02 cents :

Aftermarket hatchback, window glass run, and dew wipes weatherstripping were acceptable for me, but aftermarket door-to-body weatherstripping was not.

The aftermarket door-to-body weatherstripping was not as thick as OEM, so it did not create a very good seal (sporadic water leaks). I tore those out and replaced them with NOS Ford door-to-body seals, and that was a major difference. If I could do it all over again, I would order NOS Ford for door-to-body the first time, to save me the wasted $ from having to throw away the aftermarket version.

depends on who you get them from..I replaced all mine last year..Everything was as good as the stock stuff was except like jtfairlane said.THe door opening weatherstrips tore REAL easy .BUt the new ones i got from Latemodel Restoration Supply ,was as thick as the stock stuff. The difference was night and day..
