Are all Ford 8.8 3.73 gears the same?

I see allot on ebay for Explorers, F-150s and such. Will they work in our fox cars?

For aftermarket, Motive is now making some gear sets for Ford 3:55/3:73

They are notated as Ford with the partnumber 373M or 355M (M signifies Motive made them)

Think somthing to do with the tone ring for the abs on the carrrier. Mustangs have the rings on the axle's.

So for the gears only, not axles, will any 8.8, 3.73 gear work?
The exciter ring is on the axle right? I'm not running the axles. I just want the gears.

Yeah I have 3.55's out of my sisters bronco in my 88 lx. I get gear sets out of the local pull a part for 15 bucks, everything from 2.73,3.08,3.27,3.55,3.55,3.73, and even some 4.10's show up on the exploders with tow packages.

you can also use their carier for a 31 spline conversion (just have to buy diffrent axleshafts)
