Are all mustangs pieces of **** or just mine! RANT!

i dont know. looks like a spider gear and the pin blew apart. the carrier pin was in 3 pieces and a couple spider gears were crushed up. then it looked like the pin tried to exit through the diff cover :) 100plus launches on slicks

I've got a list a mile long of things that had to be replaced on my car:

35mi- Air silencer fell off.

800mi- Stock exhaust system went bad. Had to replace catback and mid-pipe :nonono:

1200mi- OEM shocks and struts were blown out. Springs were also broken. Replaced with new units.

1300mi- OEM shifter broke while grinding into 2nd. Removed/replaced.

2200mi- OEM bumpers, hood, and spoiler fell off while driving down the road. Had them promptly replaced, prepped and painted.

3000mi- Wheels had cracked around the lug nut holes and the tires were bald. Removed/replaced.

4000mi- Jumped car over railroad tracks and stripped the ring gear upon landing. Replaced rear gearset.

4050mi- My EEC fell off. I had to have it reflashed before re-installing.

4700mi- While shifting at 6k, my upper intake blew off of the intake. Damaged the air intake tube and throttle body also. Had to have all three items replaced.

5200mi- After being stored for the winter, the camshafts froze in place from lack of use. Camshafts and valvesprings were removed/replaced. Also, while the cams were being replaced it was discovered that the exhaust manifolds had cracked, the midpipe was rotted out, and the mufflers were bad. All was replaced with new items.

8300mi- Currently, the car has an exhaust leak on the passenger side. Probably more faulty exhaust parts.

Three exhaust systems later, here I am at 8300 miles. What will be next? The cylinder heads lose their shape and have to be machined? The whole intake assembly cracks and has to be replaced?

I'm assuming this all happened to your stock 8.5" 28 spline carrier.

2004 Mustang GT with 16k miles almost a year now (wrecked 2 times) once was my fault the other was the other guys fault. (december will be a year)...and my sway bar bushing just cracked and fell out (took it to ford for warranty work and they fixed it) and also I currently have a squeaking noise ...but I suspect that is from me lowing the car since it didn't do this before untill I lowered it...recently replaced the fuel filter because I had starting problems and that first that....otherwise no problems...

2000 GT, 78K

perfect except for drivers side seat belt kind of lost it's "recoiling power". Grinds into reverse and fifth, once in a while. When at idle, makes a high pitched screeching noise.. can anybody tell me what this is?

8.5?? GT's use an 8.8

Yes GT's use an 8.8" dia. ring gear, but the stock 28 spline carrier is actually 8.5".

The 8.8's in Cobras, Explorers,F-150's,Navigators,Expeditions are an 8.8" ring gear with a 8.8" carrier and 31 spline axle shafts.

Doesn't make sense, but it's true. The 8.8" 31 spline Traction-Lok that FRPP sells(PN# M-4204-F318) is the same one that goes in the Cobras, Explorers,F-150's,Navigators,Expeditions.

It's only .300 bigger in dia. but it's a lot beefier and the internals are alot stronger than the stock GT/Mach1 carrier.

lol mine sucks too, just changed the headgasket, has a big leak on the passenger side header, passenger seatbelt doesnt work. some odd sounds coming from the engine, cant afford to get rid of it, so gotta live with it!!

My '95 had the typical and expected headgasket problem. Ford fixed it under their special (thanks to our Canadian friends up north) extended warranty.
