though they do look very similar and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if there were some mechanical bits that are interchangeable, AMC was known to use a few components from the Big 3 on occasion (ford carbs and igintions for instance), the 2 cars are not all related but i can see how they might appear that way. it also wouldn't suprise me if either Ford or AMC had a spy in the design for either car (or both)

Wow! If Andy thinks the 71-73 Stangs were "Super-Carrier" sized; can you imagine what he'd say looking at my "BBC"? "Super-Carrier with another half a foot tacked on!

Okay, okay. So (according to the Measurements" page on TCCN2) my 73 is 5.7 inches longer than your 69.... Most of that is in the front bumper!

okay, well i'll give you that the front bumper is big enough to send a mack truck running for cover.
Gotta love those early 5MPH bumpers. You don't need to pack a folding chair; just park the nose of the car in the shade, sit down on the 10" deep bumper, and lean back against the headlight surround as you have your beer.
