are the rear brake pads same as the fronts?

Don't forget when doing the rear that the pistons need to be screwed back into the caliper, you can't just push them in with a c-clamp.

After screwing them in with needle nose pliers, I'm going to recommend buying the tool when you buy the pads.
 
The rear pads are completely different. They have springs built in that hold them in place. As somebody else mentioned, the rear pistons can NOT just be pushed in! They MUST be twisted in, if you use a c-clamp on them, you can break the ratcheting mechanism inside!
 
Deglazing the rotors, even if they are smooth, is a good idea. You dont need to necessarily turn them to accomplish this (there are even at-home kits one can use).

I would perform some function to remove glaze, at a minimum.
