Are there 2 sizes of V6 engines?

I was reading about how to decode the VIN numbers and mine decodes to a 3.9 liter engine.... I thought they were 3.8?

What is the truth on this. The decode said the 8th digit is the engine type. I have a 6 there. I expected it to mean 6 cyclinder. The site I was at returned data for my vin as 6cy 3.9 motor.

Yeah, the 04's had a little more room and so came to be 3.9 l.

Well now there's technically 3 sizes. The '05 has a 4.0l V6.

the 3.8 vs 3.9 are identical in performance... the 4.0 is in the 05s and will run about the same time as the older push rods
