I have thrown a few posts about a weird 'miss' i have with my car and someone suggested looking at the motor mounts and the harmonic balancer. The balancer didnt seem to be overly wobbly, but i am ordering a replacement anyhow (good insurance considering the beast has 230K on her)

Can someone give me some verification that is definitely time to change the mounts?

Those mounts are beyond shot. There shouldn't be any cracks in them at all.

If you don't go poly, I'd go with '93 mounts. They're the captured design that was used on verts.

Good luck.

Poly mounts

Sounds like i should go poly... although my cars not making much HP right now. Im hoping this is the reason why i get a weird vibration at idle.

Getting a good quality set of mounts will almost feel like you picked up a little power after having blown mounts like that because the car will put more torque through the chassis. You don't need gobs of power to run poly mounts. They're a little expensive but they'll out last stock mounts.

Mine also look like this, unfortunetely I can't afford to replace them for another few weeks. Any harm in driving a car with mounts like this?

Yea they are really bad. I was glad to see them in this condition because i had no other suspects to check out why my car had such a hard 'miss' (which turned out to be a vibration)

Is it hard to change the mounts? I have limited tools at my disposal and will be doing this in my car port.

why don't you want to run solid in a DD? I do not one probablem. Just have to run a rub trans mount. I run the solid don't have to worry about them breaking.

I know.. i know

Yea i agree it was kind of a stupid question, but when i had my camaro i accused a guy of selling me some jacked up control arms because the bushings had holes in them and i later larned that thats how the bushings came on the A arms on the 4th gen camaro. I just felt dumb.. so i wasnt sure when the mounts on the mustang would be considering bad.
