Why would there be stamped/embossed ID on the combustion side of the head?

If these are in fact A3 heads (A3 heads I'm thinking of)... I'd buy the off you

The early 289 & 302 heads were stamped on the lifter side of the intake port (underside)

Are the valveguides canted?
Are the valvespring seats offset from each other?
Are the heads aluminum or steel?

You'll want to knock that off with a grinder if you decide to use these heads which IMO are not as efficient as say... E7s.
