are torque box reinforcments good prevention?

my car doesnt make huge amounts of power but im wondering if welding in torque box reinforcments would be good to do anyway. is it worth the time and money? even if its just one of those " just in case" type things?

I have seen mostly stock cars that have shredded the torque boxes. IMHO they are good insurance.

My car had busted ones when i bought it, Installed those and a plate underneath with the subs and bam, instant bye bye to the clunk in the trunk

They were one of the first mods I made. I've read too many horror stories about torque boxes.

Mine are just bolted in. If I go to a full slick (unlikely to ever happen) I would weld them up first.

TQ box reinforcements are a must, someone ran over a bump in the highway and shredded his upper box in the 4.6 forums.

I picked up a set on the Bay just like that for the same price, except powdercoated... keep your eyes peeled for the powdercoat versions if you can. I was very impressed with the quailty too; the welds, PC job, and hardware is excellent, you can slap a MM sticker on them I think.

Yeah its all bolt in, welding is optional. Most street cars would probably be fine with them just bolted in; if you had a high HP slick car then some good stitch welds would do.

who makes a good bolt in version? i was holding off cuz i dont have a spot i can weld in regularly. so...very interested in the bolt in types

also ive only seen them for the lower torqe boxes does anyone make them for where the upper control arms bolt to the body? thanks

I'm using the Battle Boxes from Wild Rides. Excellent product, They do sell the units for the uppers, but the lowers are the main ones to be concerned about. I intend to use a Torque arm later on, so i didn't even worry about them.

Good Luck, I highly recommend, Great way to spend 3 hrs or so. Make sure to use a plug in drill, Battery ones die too quick for me.

Either way. Battle boxes, torque boxes. It's the same thing.

The link I provided above includes both the top and bottom sets.
