Well I go to install the 94-95 Timing cover so I can get the engine in quickly, but nooo, another setback. The timing cover cannot fit over the timing set on there.... Gurrr The engine was out of a Fox body... And they had more room under the timing cover than the 94/95's.

94 cover on the left (bottom was an old broken stock one I had, it's the same as the new one on the left, so don't pay attention to it.)

Nice big fat timing set on the Fox... too bad it's gotta go

Sooo... I've pulled a timing set from the camshaft before, but never off the crank, or installed a new set... Any tips/sugestions?

Thanks guys, just one setback after another with this car (This is my Dads 94, I'm doing the work for him.. It's been dead almost 5 months now NOT the 94 in my sig, that one's mine)

What exactly is hitting? I would take off the fuel pump eccentric and see how it fits. . .

I took off the dogdish metal thing, if that's the fuel pump eccentric, and it doesn't hit anymore... Does that thing need to be on? Can I get a shallower one?

Thanks for the reply!

I was gonna say...................... I read a thread some time ago on the Corral about someone doing a similar swap and there was an issue with what was thought to be an oil slinger - it will get chewed to poo if left on. I dont recall particulars though - sorry.

It was worth mentioning as something to research, if that is not what is being discussed right now.

Good luck.

Ok, that's helping....thanks Does anyone know if I can take it off and be ok? Because that's the only way it'll fit... And I definitely don't want to mess my Dads new engine up lol

The only clearance issue I know of with the late model timing covers and timing chain is the fuel pump excentric that early cars have. I didn't know Fox cars still had the excentric for the fuel pump.

This was buggin me. It seems to me that Loudpedal and Animal were right on the money. The theme of the thread when I saw it was about a slinger. The guys over there later corrected the thread to indicate that it was the FP eccentric (though there was debate on that. LOL).

Just for your info (there are pics, etc), here is the thread.

Nice catch guys!
