[rant]put my engine in earlier this week, only to find an incessant knocking when i crank it over. being as nasty as it was, i decided not to start the thing. got underneath, and discovered that the balancing weight on the flywheel was hitting the seperater place between the block and the tranny. the plate, somehow, got bent reallly bad and pushed somewhat into the bell housing area. all of the shops in town don't have/carry the spacer plate, so i had to mail order it. i'm so close to getting this bitch running, but i have to wait a week for the part to get shipped![/rant]

Are you sure you don't have the flywheel on backwards?

That could be a problem, couldn't it? I imagine the clutch and pressure plate would certainly make a knocking sound as they bashed into the block.

Just using his terminology. I want to see you put that clutch and pressure plate on after installing a flywheel backwards.
