Arrghh borken hood latch release cable

Hey Guys,

I got my new car home last night 90 GT Vert(my 3rd vert GT ) and the car needs some TLC. I got it home and went to pop the hood and nothing. The guy I got the car from said that it has been harder and harder to open (the card is BONE stock, 160k miles.


Well anyways the hood will not pop. So i got underneath and felt around at the cable area, and I can feel that the cable is frayed and not attached.

So question now is how the heck do i get my hood to pop? Is there a trick to it? I was try to use pliers to get at the cable but its in a super tight spot with the AC condensor in the way.

Let me know so I can start fixing the new fox up

When my GT vert had a electrical fire it burn the hood pull cable too. I had to crawl underneath and find the latch. When you pull the cable it pulls the latch towards the driverside light. I found the cable attaching point and pushed it towards the drivers side and pop the hood opened up. I have not yet replaced he cable so in my case i cut the cable and had thw working part sticking out of the hood by the drivers side light so I can open it with out getting under the car.
