The shop is running a few weeks behind schedule. The doors are completed. As usual, the parts from NPD were crap. The mach 1 decals were cracked and the shop thought they were very, very old, which is odd because I just bought them this past July. Anyways, I was wrong about the pearl undercoat. That was what they were going to do when I first chose to go with Torreador Red. This is just blue over blue over the epoxy primer. they put the decals on and then clear-coated over them. Very nice!

very nice.... i wasnt trying to attack you, or the shop doing the work, like i said earlier, just curious. when the owner of a car wants something like that done at my shop, i usually try to steer them away from it, or talk them into putting the pearl into the last coat of color, or in the first coat of clear. once again, beautiful car

New doors. The old ones were too rusted internally to be salvaged. The quality of these re-pops just suck. It took a ton of work to get them to fit, which they now do. Now, they fit perfectly. This came at great expense.

I wonder if there are 2 different vendors for the 69-70 doors? I've heard others claim their new repops fit very well. It could also be that there is so much variance in the sag of a 40 year old car that the original door wouldn't fit every car well either. When my original doors were re-worked it took a lot of time to make them fit, and it wasn't worth it since there was rust in the bottoms that eventually ate through.

This winter I'll still be working mechanical upgrades, but I was hoping to get my car to a shop next winter and it will also need new doors.

The first door came from M Unlimited and it was a Dynacorn. It had to be completely re-skinned to get it to fit. The second door came from NPD and it is made by Apex Auto. It was better quality than the Dynacorn but still a ton of work to get it to fit. The shop was not terribly impressed with the repro materials.
