I finally made it tot he strip last night. I drug along a few buddies, one of which brought his 570rwhp gt500. He had never been on a drag strip before and he was running regular low profile street tires. We lined up 4 times, which I beat him the first three. He went from running mid 9's to a last run of 8.25@97 mph, to my 8.28@92 mph.

I bested my personal best by a whopping .01 seconds, but was still cutting a worse 60ft then I have in the past. It was a fun night and I was proud of my buddy running as quick as he did, being a newbie at the strip, and being on radials. Hope to get some video soon.

BTW, it was high 80's low 90's during these runs, with horrible humidity.

You must have been spinning through the 60ft with that mph.

Thanks guys. His mph was 97, mine was 92. That being said, the general consensus of the racers at this track is that the mph clock is roughly 6 mph too high. That's probably about right, because I ran around 86 mph in commerce back in April, so take the mph for what it is. The best 60 I could pull was a 1.89.

Kurt, we were at paradise in Calhoun, not the best track in the world, but we were just there for some seat time and to have fun.

Best Video I Have. This was our first run. He got ALOT faster as the night went, improving over a whole second. Me, on the other hand, I only cut about .12 seconds off that run. LOL.

I've been meaning to try and make it up to Paradise someday. I'll never have the time off to do it though. I'm in Cherokee County, so it's the most convienient track for me.

That Shelby sure was whistling! Lol. Sounds like you had fun at least. What kind of tires/suspension on your GT? 1.89 isn't a terrible 60ft depending on track/set up etc

1.89 is good on streets, IMO.

They are a 235 MT. I have fixed BBK lowers, UPR adjustable uppers, stock v8 springs in the rear; up front it is 175lb coil overs and strange adjustable all the way around. 3 up front, 6 on the rear as far as settings go. The best I have got out of this car is a 1.85, and that was on a 245 555r.

I have posted on here before about my sucky 60ft, consensus is that it takes a lot of seat time and suspension tweaking to launch hard on a radial with a stick. That's difficult to accomplish when you fight to make it out twice a year at best.

Kurt, Calhoun is my home town, but I live 1.5 hours away now. It is still the closet track to me, and my father-n-law lives about two miles away from it. So getting support if I break is a little easier.

Haven't given up and thrown a slick on it at the track yet?

I've broken some stuff good on slicks. I think my next visit to the track will be with a trailer. Even if you don't break it's a pain in the butt if you don't have a trailer.

Yep. I used to load up the slicks and all the tools in the back of m5 85 hatch, drive 45 minutes to Moroso (now PBR) swap the nitto's for the slicks, make a few runs, hope I didn't break anyhing then swap the tires again, and then drive the car back home. That got to be old real quick and then I bought a trailer. Best time with that car was 10.26 @ 127mph and I am a terrible driver.

It's enough work with an 11 second car, I don't even want to know what it's like witha 10 second car. Been to Moroso many times. Drove up from Pembroke PInes when I was a teenager. Then I drove an hour down to Orlando Speed World many times. By the time you get race tires on the car and chain your stock tires and tools to the fence you have lost at least one pass.

I wish I had a truck and trailer to pull with, but it's a little outside of my financial abilities at this point. I would like to throw some slicks on there, and I probably will down the road. My wife and I try to live a debt free lifestyle, we owe only on our house. It sounds great, but that means that I don't get to buy any truck I want, LOL. We have discussed it though, I would like to buy a diesel, or maybe even an echo boost sometime in the next couple of years. I have a company car, so usually my wife's vehicle needs go before mine.

Actually Mad, actually I do have a ranger, and I did pull a car with it one time. However, I cannot pull a full trailer and car with it regularly.
