At what price would you buy a Terminator?

Now that I'm filled in as to what a Terminator actually is, I don't want one.

IMO, they have a coolness about them, but they are lame from a design standpoint. Ford was too lazy/too cheap to engineer a healthy N/A DOHC 4.6 to compete with the Camaros and Fireturds so they lamed out and slapped a blower on.

IRS in a Mustang = :notnice: too.

Gimme a '99 with a solid rear axle....

Yea i agee, 370 rwhp hp stock from the factory is LAME  Pulley/intake/exhaust swap and close to 500rwhp(depending on tune) is LAME too.

IRS isnt to bad either as far as im concerned. Its definatly not as weak as some make it out to be.

Oh yea ill race your 99 any day hehe

I'll rephrase my statement to help you understand it better. From an engineering standpoint, the 4.6 motor, single or double overhead cam, is lame. It's bigger than a 460 in size, yet only contains 60% of the 460's CID. Almost none of that area can be used for more bore. I've heard of the blocks going .030 over before the weren't "safe" anymore. Can they go any further?

So now we have this motor that is at a severe disadvantage, cubic inch-wise. It has 4 camshafts and HUGE heads. What I'm saying is this...

For everything that the DOHC 4.6 motors have going for them, Ford flushed it all down the toilet and took the cheap way out by putting a blower on. They could have redesigned the heads, screwed with different camshafts, redesign the manifold. I mean christ, could you make it any EASIER?! What challenge is there is to go fast in a new Cobra besides "save your money"?

You'd whip a 99's ass - no doubt about it. It would be expected.

How about you race a Procharged '03. Wouldn't be all fun and games then. ;)

Go fast and easy usually arent in the same sentence, but in this case they are. Thats the draw of this car. Mid 11's with basic things done! Now getting to the 10's is a little more of a challenge, but, attainable with the proper mods(im not talking KB, but thats the easy way out). I find that most people who complain about the cobras being TOO EASY to go fast just cant afford one. Not saying you cant( u stated u didnt want one anyways).

Im sure they could have gotten more power out of the n/a 4.6's. But why? Its easier to put a reliable sc(eaton), along with forged internals and go at it. Plus, when you make a car like this with 370rwhp stock, you get to call it the terminator, and even have little terminator stickers on the inside of all the body panels, whats cooler then that? :D

Id race a procharged 03, if i had a nice kb under the hood.... But that wont ever happen! To tell you the truth, ive never heard of ONE person on the forums who was happy with the procharger on these cars. Lots of belt issues.

To you...I think that's where we differ. No big deal.

I don't want one and there is no way in hell my broke ass can afford one. Like a typical college student, I make enough to cover my beer tab for the week, plus about 10 bucks extra. :D

I'm with Joe!

I can't afford but one toy.

I'm having too much fun with my 95. There are many things I still wanna do with it.

My 95 is the only toy of my desire at this time, lol.

Not in any way saying the blown Cobra is bad or anything.

I just don't like mod motors and the thing Joe said about Ford having to put a blower on the mod motored Cobra to get any low end ..................

I agree!

I guess I'd not want one of em at any price.

Grady

I kind of agree with Joe. The 03-04 Cobra's are definitely bad cars with tones of torque and run very good times stock. However, I feel there is a certain amount of "rice-i-ness" to the mods some of these guys do and then brag about how bad of a car they have. What they have in reality is deep pockets to afford them and enough mechanical aptitude to change a pulley and brag about "450 rwhp". On the other hand, if I had a Cobra, I would switch the pulley out also, but just not brag about how much work I did to the car to get it to where it is now. If I had the choice, I would much rather take my car and build it to the same performance and do the work myself. BTW... I am in no way flaming anyone about what kind of car they have, remember... "This is not a personal attack, only my opinion."

Wow, new smileys!:SNSign:

too lazy/too cheap, well they dont make the camaro or fireturd any more. i dont know if that was just a too lazy or a too cheap decision that chevy made. we'll call it even. ill be in the market for a nice terminator next spring though.

I'll compare this to when the pilgrims fled the religious oppression of england only to settle in new england and institute their own religious oppression. YOu ask, what the hell are you talking about Adam?

We bag on LS1 owners because their cars are more expensive and they are mosters from the factory. As if they are "cheating." Ford finally makes a car that is even more of a monster from the box and now we turn on our own and act as if they are cheating. There is nothing cheating or poorly designed about a production vehicle that runs in the 12s out of the box and responds well to mods.

While I am a believer in pushrod power (new Z06 gives me wood) I think respect should be given where respect is do.

Well said. :nice:

Agreed! By the way yellow1995Cobra (forget your name) I have to say I love the new cobra, but you should have kept that yellow hoodless wonder with the 418....it almost made me cry looking at that engine bay through the windshield...

and if i'm not mistaken, didn't your other half have a hair clip or something inside that 95 that you weren't allowed to take out? It's been a while, and I might be completely mistaken, but i remember that from a while back
