I see that there is minimal difference between the two other than cfm and boost range. I notice that the majority of kits come with the P1 for a 99-04 GT. Any benefit on getting a D1 with a stock GT engine, or would i be wasting my money?

First off I want to say Im not an expert but I do have alot of experience with various 4.6 prochargers since the shop I deal with has many 2v cars with many ATI kits installed and various stock and forged motor combos. I have had a stock combo and now a forged combo myself that I can speak for.

the D1 is lazy on a stock 2v.. it'll make a good peak number but average power under the curve is not as good. if you want a good street Procharger the P1SC-2 is the way to go..you would have to have a shop custom order a kit with the -2 head unit instead of the standard P1 head unit. I have had this blower for almost 3 years now and made 430rwhp on a stock 2v and will probably make 550rwhp + with my new built motor. the boost is very linear with the -2 and comes on strong early in the RPM band. I use a 3.4 pulley and made as much as 17lbs on the stock motor setup and now I have a 10% overdriven crank installed on the forged motor and expect anywhere from 18-20lbs if belt slip is not an issue. opt up for a sheetmetal cooler over the standard 2 or 3 core and get a race bypass versus the stock one. with this setup you will have so much room to grow if that is you plan.

if you need help ordering a setup like this Mike at www.dezracing.com is a great person to deal with.. he will order the kit anyway you want at a competitive price. tell him Paul M referred you.

never heard of the P1sc-2

but as far as P1sc vs. D1sc it's a no brainer. the D1sc. the P1sc had seal problems and is limited in the power it can make.

the D1 has had the same seal issues in the past... they are the exact same blower case with a different impellar and step up ratio.

for people who don't know Procharger has a P1SC, P1SC-1, and P1SC-2 and you can get a stage 1 kit with 2 core IC or stage II kit with 3 core and other extra's.. don't confuse the stage 1 or 2 with the head unit -1 and -2 as its two completely different things.

the -2 blower is NMRA real street legal spec Procharger offering...guys like Tim Matherly and Jim Breeze use it to be top contenders in the class. I know for a fact I was one of the first street modulars to bolt one on my 4.6 and have had nothing but great results with it..so much so that many other local cars have swapped to it as well..

Showstopper, that was a great bit of advice you gave. I live about 1.5 hours from New Bedford, and im looking to pick this s/c up by the end of the summer. If I sell my dirtbike

Question about the boost levels. Is running up to 17lbs a safe thing with a stock 4.6? I know that depends on the tune, octane, intercooler, etc. Just wanted to get a few facts straight before i order an F4 or something stupid (kidding). Ill make sure to give your biz a call and hopefully you get some commission out of it.

Thats what i figured. Sounded a little higher than normal. Im too "tonto" to take apart a modular and replace pistons. 302's on the other hand....

if your that close then you have probably heard of Dez Racing.. mostly every 4.6 out of the shop is procharged. no commission here just the simple fact that Mike has extensive Procharger knowledge and dyno files on hand.. would be tough to find a guy around this area that has more experience with Prochargers on street and strip cars..he races what he installs! trust me when I say order a kit custom to what you want and don't want from Procharger. I didn't want the pump, injectors, or chip so that offset the sheetmetal cooler upgrade. I had the stock bypass at first but just overpowered it with this blower so put the race bypass on and have not had any belt issues since. if you need injectors and MAF I just upgraded my setup so I have 42's and ATI pro tube meter available which is perfect for what power you will make. you can PM me for price on that if need be... if you do contact Mike tell him Paul M sent you and you can ask him about my combo or anything else comparable he has had in the shop.. even if I wasn't 30 minutes away and was your distance I would drive to have Dez tune and work on my car.. I've been to the other shops in the past and he is the only guy I trust working on my car other than myself.. I've been in this game over 10 years so I've seen alot.....

as far as the 17lb thing..my stock motor was still perfect after 10k miles with a blower capable of this at any time in cooler weather. typically I would see 14-16lbs by my 5800rpm shift point.. the boost won't kill the motor, lack of fuel and a bad tune will along with pushing the RPMs too high.. this is why I recommend Mike so highly..you will make good power and the tune will keep your motor together.
I have always done my fuel system beyond the power the car makes so that I know it will be safe..

here's a vid for anyone that doesn't believe what boost level my car hit with stock motor:

Well ****, im sold! Im not looking to pull the trigger until my bike is sold, then i will go ahead with it. Ive never heard of the shop until now actually. I live about 2 hours west of Seekonk. Im pretty much looking for your basic kit to get me up and running. Fuel pump, injectors,. MAF, with room to improve on optional parts like the intercooler. I will have to give these guys a call in the morning and see what kind of options i have here.

trust me when I say you will want cobra tank and pumps cause it doesn't take long to start maxing out the GT stuff with the -2.. we pulled 413rwhp with the gt stuff and an aviator pump and ran out of fuel about 5500rpms.. that was it for me.. dual pump setup and bap until now..

dual gt pumps, fore precision works pump assembly, dual FPDM's, -8 feedline to the motor now getting ready to be installed to feed my forged setup.

yeah it gets expensive rather quickly... charger pricing has gone up a few hundred since I bought my kit let alone the prices of supporting parts... but the smile it puts on your face is Priceless!

I just finished installing a P1SC-2 last month on my stock 04 GT. My understanding was the P1SC-2 included a 3 row intercooler which I also installed. I did the entire install myself. No headers, but a O/R X-pipe. Additionally, I also installed at the same time, a Trick Flow upper plenum, 70 mm T/B, #42 injectors, Focus fuel pump, NGK TR6 spark plugs, and a 3.70 pulley that pulled 8.6 psi at 5600 RPMs on the dyno. Rear wheel horsepower was 383 on the dyno, 356 lbs. of torque at 4200 RPMs, all with a stock motor. When I was doing my homework, like you, I found that the D1 only had different guts and was capable of much higher boost pressures. I thought why do I want that with a stock motor? Thus I went with the P1 and saved some dough. And really, the car is plenty fast enough! The car has a 1000 miles on it since the install with no hiccups. No fuel starvation issues, nothing. The car runs flawlessly. I do shift at 5800 RPMs to be safe. The issue now is kind feel the rearend winding up and twisting when hard on the throttle. So onto control arms and stuff (Gears, hehehe). Hope this helps.
