I am having a 347 built with the same upper components and i need some cam advice.

i am looking for a fairly smooth idle and basically good manners around town.

I am not building this to street race or for track racing only.

I am being told that a steeda 18 cam is for me and i wanted to see what your ideas are please.

My cam is Anderson, which isn't exactly custom, but custom is the way to go. A Steeda 18 would idle great but would also waste your extra cubes. Bigger is better.

Ed's cams aren't necessarily custom either. Like Anderson, he has certain cams that he'll use on certain applications. The difference is, he doesn't advertise them. If you call Rick w/Anderson, he'll ask you all about the car and give you the cam that will work the best for what you want. If you look at his ads, you're looking at about 20 out of 150 cams he uses. These guys already did their homework through dyno and track testing and you can't go wrong with either one of these guys. I'm really impressed with my Anderson Cam. Pulls hard to 7600 and yet it's pretty easy on the valve springs.
