So I can get a real good deal on a set of weld prostars with m/t ET Streets on them.

I was wondering what kind of 60 foot I can expect...i would like to get a 2.0 atleast.

Im pretty sure Im not really in danger of hurting anything on my car right?...

I can only launch my car at like 1500 with the auto

Anyone have experiance going from street tires to slicks?

1. you dont need em'
2. Your going to bog like hell off the line due to lack of stall and/or torque
3. You could break an axle and be out more than what ur paid for the slicks
4. If you practice at the track, that itself will net you more than slicks on our cars w/ just bolt-ons
5. Give me the guy's phone number:D

You can probably get your 60' down more by working on your suspension setup but sticky tires are always a good thing. Just be prepared to completely re-learn your launch technique and dish out a lot more abuse to your drivetrain.

I dont think I wasnt to work on my suspension..the car is lowered with sportlines and I have strange 10 ways.

Why would I bog?....I dont get that. Wouldnt I just dead hook and go through first gear without any wheel spin...

Is there really a change of me breaking an axle with my setup?

Its hard to do anything with the auto...the best I did before was 2.09 with subs in the trunk...

I took them out and couldnt hook at all..this was also after lowering the car...but the best I did was 2.22 at the end of the night just really easing into it off the line.

FYI lowering the car a lot will hurt your dig, not help. And adjustable shocks only help if you know where to adjust them. Read up more on hooking up in 60's, i'm willing to bet that you will bog like a mofo with big ET steets.

I dont think you'll bog, I've really never seen an auto bog off the line.

It really is a waist though because your car is not making enough power to use them. Your car can only launch so hard with the power your making, you can have the best tires in the world but if you dont have the power your still gonna 60' the same. I really dont see you doing any better than a 2.0 really with a stock stall. My car only 60' 1.8s and thats with MT DRs and Im making ALOT more power than you are. You just have to realise a near stock auto just wont 60' well and even a modded one with stock stall won't do much better 1.8s. My friend has a Superchared 98 Cobra with a built 4R70W with a 3600 stall in it and he only 60' 1.7-1.6 in his on MT DRs.If I were you I would pick up some BFG DRs or if you want to go all out some MT DRs. Either of those would be more than enough for your car to hook good.

Also you really wont have to worry about snapping an axle with slicks or DRs with the power your making. If you had a manual or high stall auto and were doing some crazy hard launches then yes you would but a stock stall auto you wont.

Thanks for the info...yes I did know that lowering the car will hurt the launch...but Id rather my car look good.. By suspension I guess you mean more along the lines of control arms right?

Well lets just say I can get the 2 rear welds ...I think theyre 9 inch wide...maybe 8? for 200 with the e.t slicks...

I would spend a lot more just on tires compared to this deal im getting.

I had them on mine and couldn't get them to spin at launch at the track. It was a solid hook. I had 4.10s and a 2800 stall. My car is NA with a few of the common bolt ons. Nothing major. I think my 60s got down to 1.8s. It's been a while though.

I don't think you'd break the axles with a mildly modified engine. You're not really slamming the torque onto the rear end. My launches were all just stomping it from idle.

Some say you need a little spin at launch to get your RPMs up.

Edit: I'd get them if it is really a good deal and if you plan on modding your car some more. Hopefully you'll grow into them.

well...if I was spinning at launch it would keep spinning with the tires I have now...

I realize that with the power level and my current setup ill probably only get a 2.0 at best. I just want to be able to hook when I go to the track and get thoe most out of my car. The welds have got to be a little lighter than my current rims so maybe ill gain some tenths there too

are they 26's or 28's? Yeah UCA's will help launch so will LCA's - but you sacrifice some ride comfort and some odd handling in corners with these

theyre 26's. I dont really want to spend any money on that stuff yet. My car doesnt have that much power so I would imagineI will dead hook with these e.t streets and hopefully get a 2.0

I was able to get a 2.09 with the same street tires I have now and sub box in the trunk.

well true...so lets say I go from 2.25 60 to 1.9 Just the loss in 60 is good to go from 14.1 to 13.75.

13.6 is possible I say.

This may be true for some, but not for all. I wouldn't expect to pick up 7 tenths by pulling a 1.9 60'.

My best 60 is 2.018 and if I could pull a 1.99, I might be able to pull off a 13.6X!

You would only be dropping .02 ...thats like nothing.
