I have a 96 GT AUTOMATIC. I called a couple tranny shops and they told me that the shifter needs to be adjusted.. here is my problem

P-Park
R-Park
N-Park
D-reverse
2-neutral
1-drive

for some reason it just started doing this.. does anyone know how to adjust an automatic shifter?? please help. I need to fix this so i can sell it.

It's really very simple. Jack the car up and look on the drivers side of the bottom of the car. On the side of the transmission you will see a small metal arm that is connected to a cable by a bolt. You simply loosen the bolt, move the shifter forward or backward and retighten the bolt. To move the shifter you have to have the key in the on position without it cranked and your foot on the brake. It may take a few times to get it right.
