Auto Trans cooler question

I don't know what model year your Stang is, but mine is a 2002 Mustang GT, and the line from the stock cooler to the tranny is the top line. I don't know if different model years have different setups.

You can find out, by attaching a clear plastic hose to the stock cooler, and running the hose from the stock cooler to a container, then run the engine for a second, to see if fluid comes out.

How important is an auto trans cooler... I was talking about getting one and i was laughed at, since they're "only used for towing" and my dad who's a mechanic says the lines will often leak once they're installed and stuff. I eventually wanna mod my car and get to the track, so where abouts down the road should i add it, or immediately?

Well, if you use a Predator to increase your shift firmness and also mods such as stall converter or shift kits it becomes more important.

Also, trannys cost a LOT of money. Is $50 to the door worth the peace of mind a cooler provides? I think so.

If you are worried about the rubber lines leaking, you can replace them with metal lines. I am sure any small garage has someone that could bend them for you.
After the addition of my tuner, and gears I notice things seem a lot hotter after I drive for a while. It is better be safe than sorry.
