Autometer Gauges

Has anyone used the Autometer Speedo gauges? Are they worth the money and are they easy to install? They look nice in the magazines.

I think I am the only person that has had any problems with it. I installed two of them and both said I was going 10 or so MPH faster than I really was. The Tach, temp, oil and batt all read high also. It really looked cool but it got on my nerves so bad having all the gauges off so I returned it. I think i might give it a try again one day when I got extra cash laying around.

They look great and I've had no problems out of them. The only thing I don't like about them is if you are driving at night in the country or somewhere there is not a lot of ambient light, they are brighter than $hi* on the lowest setting. It does get a little annoying, but if you're in the city it's not so bad.

Close enough that I couldn't tell a difference. Cruising with the speedo at 60 mph, 1 mile took 1 minute.

They were easy to install, mine work perfect and are easier to see than the stock ones. The only draw back is the brightness and reflection on the windshield as previously mentioned, anyone got a solution????

I'll see about getting some pix up sometime. Just bought a house so I'm kinda short on time right now moving.

As far as the brightness, I was thinking of trying to wire in a resistor to kick the voltage down some more, but I would have to figure out what one to use and it isn't really all that bad.

To me the cluster has at least two negatives:
1) the high price for a cluster that provides no increase in accuracy
2) the Autometer logos all over the place is a bit cheesy -- one in the speedo or tach would have been sufficient

Other than that, though, it is is a real slick product if you have $$ burning a hole in your product.

i was wondering would it be possible to make a custom cluster, like buy the gauges you want in it, and use metal to make the background and then use the autometer sending units.
