Autometer Install

Does anyone have a right up to install Autometer Water Temp and Oil Pressure dashe guages? please.

Where did you hook the wires up to exactly? I am really not good at this!!

For the electric guages there should be a sending unit for the oil pressure and coolant temperatue. The coolant temperature sending unit should be mounted into the lower intake manifold. There are several plugs in the lower intake that can be removed. You'll want to use some sort of pipe thread sealer on the sending unit so you don't have any coolant leaks. The oil pressure sending unit should be mounted off of the same port that the stock gauge reads oil pressure at. Again use thread sealer to prevent leaks. for the 12v, you can connect it to the radio harness or the fuse box with a switched 12v. the tach signal hooks up to the negative side of the coil, prob green /w yellow stripe or tan /w yellow stripe. ground is just almost any metal contact or ground it with something else in the system.

Yeah i got those instructions from autometer. I don't think I can do this.

Anyone around Alpharetta GA that wants to make a quick c note?

its pretty simple, the hardest parts is running the wire through the firewall. just take a saturday afternoon and it will be done. if i lived close to you i would help out. i'd even do it for pizza and some beer instead of cash.

If you search, you will find tons of info. Ernan (just search for Ernan) had a nice long thread where I listed every size fitting (and he had listed the part numbers from the parts store). He took tons of pics too (this was on a 94-95, but it's all but the same).

Use this tech note if you want to retain the stock temp gauge and keep it functional.

Alternate placement for a temp gauge sender: Use the heater feed that comes off the intake manifold. Cut the rubber hose that connects the manifold water feed to the heater and splice in a tee adapter for the temp gauge sender. Be sure to use the same water feed line as the ECT sensor. That way you will get the most accurate temp readings.

Tee adapter info:
Make a pilgrimage to your local hardware or home supply center and get some copper pipe and a tee that fits the temp gauge sender. Solder two pieces of copper pipe onto a copper pipe tee with threads in the tee part. Find the correct brass fitting to match the temp sender threads to the tee fitting.
