Autometer Oil pressure gauge help asap

My friend and I installed the oil pressure gauge (phantom) on my 03' GT,but when we tested it and started car - it read zero while the stock idiot gauge read as it always does - we hooked the sender to the available plug near the stock sending unit. We even tested all electrical connections with his meters and stuff. Everything seems to check out a-ok. What could be the problem? Help needed asap -

Thanks

I'm not sure if the oil pressure gauge has a ground that needs to be hooked up, but I have the same Autometer phantom gauges and when they were
installed, they had the ground wire on my "temp gauge" not grounded properly, causing the unit not to work properly. If it does have a grounding
wire, make sure you are grounded properly. If that doesn't work, I would call
Autometer and see if they can help. Hope you can get it workin'.

UPDATE: The gauges now work.

For some reason, the ground wire on temp gauge was on sender post and sender was on ground post - once I switched that - the gauge worked, but was still not working - the oil sat at around 30 and did nothing - but the temp would fluctuate from 180 to 250 LOL....So guess what else was wrong - we had the damn gauges in the wrong pod - removed them switched there location and bing they both work as they were meant to - temp sits at around 180 and oil at idle around 25 and fluctuates as i drive - :D Now I will attempt to wire the rest of the a/f gauge - just gotta find that one wire on the computer - I wish myself luck...

:nice: Those damn ground wires, I knew that's what it was. :fuss:

My friend and I utilized the sending units provided in kit. We just had to goto pepboys for a 90 degree elbow to install the oil sending unit. We placed the elbow in the plug next to the stock sending unit. My pressure reads 75 at first startup and when warm ranges from 25 idle and fluctuates as i accelerate in gear towards 75. The temp sending unit was placed on the drivers side of the engine block in a plug we found and removed. Temp readings are stock readings - 180 - 195. Hope this helps.
