autozone clutch cable any good?

I need to replace my calbe ASAP (can barely shift without stepping through the floorboard) this is just a driver, so i dont need any fance adjustable calbe or anything like that, so will the stock replacement from autozone ($30) be ok for what i use this thing for?

Nope pure junk, reguardless of what the use will be....trust me. Just order a decent one.

adjustable cables are a pain in the ass. Ford has an oem non adjustable cable for 40 bucks. I bought the one in this link and it worked just fine.

Not sure what brand they use, but a stock replacement part, if it meets OEM standards, is a stock replacement part. But as mob said, you can likely pick one up from your local Ford stealership for about $10 more than the Autozone part.

Another vote to get a Ford piece (IMHO both the adjustable and non-adjustable cables are nice). They run about 50 bucks shipped.

I'd want to make sure your quadrant and pawl teeth arent about to let go.

If it's just an adjustment issue, try pulling up on the clutch pedal (to ratchet the self adjustment).

HISSIN has a good point about the quadrant and teeth...my quadrant was toast when I was having pedal issues. I thought it was the clutch at first, but I replaced with a Steeda quadrant and the issues went away...I should've stuck with it like that, but replaced with an adjustable Steeda cable and have not been too happy.

That is so not true.....OEM is just standards of tolerances. Not the materials used nor the methods used to producce the part.

Notice, I do not say it is a STOCK EQUIVALENT part...I was simply saying that any generic brand "stock replacement" part that meets OEM standards, is about the same as the next one.

I was not saying that an off-brand Autozone or Napa part is going to be as good as (in terms of quality/reliability) a Ford part.

thanks guys, i ordered the Ford part. i think the quadrant should be ok because this all started when the bracket mounting the cable to the car broke and let the cable hang next to the exhaust. I mounted it back up and its a little better, but i think the damage has been done....

ouch. yeah, heat and clutch cables don't generally mix. let us know how it goes once you get the Ford part on there. good luck.
