Well.. I knew at some point this would happen, just didn't think it would happen today.

I was installing a sender unti for my Water Temp gauge from Autometer, and was installing in the stock location next to the alternator. I had put it on, but was getting some leaking, so I tighten it up a bit and ....

***SNAP***

The plastic around the mounting hole and the metal inside the mounting hole cracked.

Here's the location of the sender:

And here is my beloved crack (not that one, lol):

Any suggestions anyone? Replace with non-plastic stock intake? Upgrade?

Stock intake is cheap, $150 I believe, but takes a while to install.

Instead of tightening until it cracked using teflon tape or RTV would have been the way to go...

I put a Dorman aftermarket (like $200) with the aluminum runner on my car like two days ago and it works great! Well, great for a plastic intake manifold ..

But before you get into all that, assuming you just want to get it to stop leaking until you can figure out what you want to buy, bust out some JB weld. I had a similar issue except I didn't crack my intake. The nut that the sensor is screwed into, blew out of the intake on my car. For two years I had some JB weld on it and that held it in place with no prob. So if you want to repair the crack temporarily, take the sensor out, dry off area, JB weld away. I finally had to replace my intake because it cracked in the thermostat housing area .. anyway, JB weld then decide which intake you want. My 2 penniez.

... just as a I was convincing myself that I needed the parkway performance headswap kit, lol.

Thanks guys, appreciate the help. I've got a call into the local dealership to see if Ford will replace under recall (yeah right), or to see how much for just the intake.
