Awesome night last night

Long story, but here it goes.

Local group was having a meet last night. Had a good turnout, although I got there kind of late because of work.

We had access to a track (no times, though... just good old fashioned racing), and I proceeded to get honorably whooped by an intake/exhaust/cammed Mach-1 5 speed, intake/exhaust/tune 350Z 6 speed, and a baaaaaad ass Chevy wagon (80's something) with a bottle fed smallblock.

My only win of the night was against my buddies new GTO. LS1/auto car, and it was 1 for 1.

I sprayed last night (but not on every run), but was on an empty tank so I was kind of let down with that. Now everyone thinks my GT is a slow bucket of bolts even on the spray, lol. I'm going to up it to the 100 shot, pull a little timing and fill the bottle before too long and let it eat. It took the 75 hit just fine.

I did a nice burnout (for me, anyway... don't do many of them), and got to drive a 540rwhp Bullitt. Holy freaking mother of pearl... I didn't drive it hard, but when my buddy took me for a ride in it, I was stuck to the seat with white knuckles...:rlaugh:

I powershifted through the gears for the first time ever, 100% flawlessly last night as well. The clutch was squealing in dis-content, but dammit it was an amazing feeling. The car felt like it never lost power between shifts.

Yesterday was just one of ...:hail2:... days. Just thought I'd share.

Yea, while the guys I go with are all great guys and cool to be around, they crack me up. "My car makes xxx wheel hp, and weighs xxxx, so I should run pretty deep 12s" and then proceeds to pull off a best ET on the day of 14.3 with a 2.4 60'. :rlaugh: I heard that type of BS from at least 3 folks.

Another common one I got: "Dude, you are making 325 hp on the wheels, but you weigh, like, what, 3200 pounds?" Me: "Actually more like 3600 with me in the car." Them: "Oh dude, that's heavy as balls. I should be able run along side of you." I then proceed to beat them by half a second off the tree, and another 1.5 seconds in the ET.

Another one of them who ran me jokingly said: "Man, you need to give me like a 1 second head start so I can have a chance." So.....I gave him a headstart. Looking back at the slip, I actually gave him just shy of 2 seconds. I had him run down by the end of the 1/8th, and peddled it for the last few hundred feet, and still won by over half a second. I was told by Bullitt guy that all the guys watching were laughing their asses off. By the end of the day, the announcer was cracking jokes every time I ran someone. "So, how's the Mustang gonna win this time? Give the other guy a 3 second head start and then run them down? Or tree em and coast the second 1/8th?" :rlaugh:

The guy in the Bullitt was an older (40s) guy, but was super chill. We made fun of all the import guys all day long. hehehe. He was a heck of a driver as well. I think his worst RT all day was like a .04. I hope to see him around some more. I'm severely outnumbered at these meets, but hey, me and him proved yesterday that quantity means nothing. :D

That's hilarious man. Sounds like some of the people around here. I've heard so much smoke blown out of someones ass only to find out their car is really slow, lol.

I'd have been cracking up hearing the announcer saying that about my car... that had to be a good feeling, hah.

That's cool about the Bullitt guy though. My friend's Bullitt is the most violently fast car I've driven, and he is a ridiculous driver. I'm told that I have the driver mod, but this guy is way better than me.

Haha, in my area, talking realistic horsepower and weight numbers does nothing but get you laughed at.

My buddy with a pretty much full-bolt on 5.0 SN car tried crunching numbers with my at the time bone stock 4.6. A little smack got thrown around (he's always been a cocky bastard lol) but when the time slips got laid out at the end of the night the ole bone stock 4.6 consistently laid down .4 faster 1/8th mile E/T's (both of us running street tires).

Everyone in my area has 385hp bone stock 350 TBI motors. I always tell them to google that s*** and take it home.

I bet your buddy got quiet after that, lol. Either that or rolled out the excuses.

I hear you on the high power stock motors though. I talked to a guy had that a 3rd gen 305CI Camaro. He said it was making somewhere in the upper 300 range or something and the engine was BONE stock. I have gotten tired of correcting people now so I usually just let them go with it and laugh on the inside.

Off topic (but it's my thread, so it's good... right? haha), but how do you like the 5.4 swap, and what made you choose NPI heads? I for a while was pretty interested in that swap, but then it seemed no one was making the power they were expecting to make with it. What's your opinion?

Oh man, I about died laughing several times. One time, two of my buddies wanted to ride along (at the same time for whatever reason), and I let them. Now, these are not two small guys. One of them is probably 6'2" and 230, and the other is 6'8" and 250. The tall guy sat in the back seat crossways (with his seatbelt on of course) and the other guy in the front. It was a car LOAD to say the least. When I was sitting in the staging lanes, with no one lined up beside me at the moment, the announcer goes "Oh, the guy in the Mustang is feeling sorry for everyone else now, so he's gone and got some of his buddies to ride along and add some weight so he won't be so fast. If anyone wants a chance at the Mustang, now is the time." :rlaugh::lol: Oh, I (and my buddies) almost pissed ourselves laughing. A guy in a turbo 240sx wound up running me. I ran a 13.7 to his like 14.5. :rlaugh:

Now ain't that the truth. The guys around here say "You only have 325 hp with a blown V8? Dang, I'm making 305 hp with a 4 cylinder with heads, intake, headers, methanol injection, and only 14 pounds of boost." Well no chit Sherlock. A heads, intake, headers, meth injected V8 on 14 pounds of boost will make over 500 hp. All day. No problem. It's hard to get them to understand that while my car is a V8, it's only a stock motor, stock heads, stock cams, and, well "modified" intake :D, and I'm only on 6 pounds of boost, and I'm on an automatic transmission. There really isn't much done to my car, and I'm running 13.1s with a 2000 ft DA. And yet I still beat all of em. :D The Bullitt was only a bolt on, geared, and cammed V8, and was running close to a full second faster than any of the import cars in our group. Except an Evo, who was running 11s, but that was a fully built, very high boost, suspension, tires, AWD car. Not gonna lie, that Evo was a nice car.

Btw, the Bullitt wound up running a best of 12.65 at 112. There's some videos of both of us running on our club website, but you can only see them if you are a member. I'm in the process of re-uploading them on Youtube so we all can see.

Videos FTW. 112mph is very impressive from that Bullitt. Those HiTechs keep proving themselves, I just wish they sounded more radical at idle.

But that's funny as hell about your buddies riding along. I bet the 240sx guy was a little butt-hurt after he got walked by a car full of people.... hahahaha.
