axle rusted in

I am trying to pull my axles and the left one is like stuck in. i removed the 4 bolts and tried pulling it by turning aroudn the drum and using it as a slide hammer but that dont work. i tied a chain to the flange and the other end to a 25 lb sledge and throw it the oposite way. that dont work. i tried heating up the housing with a propane torch and that dont work. the bearing is about 2 mm out but i think its been like that for quite some time cause rust is on the bearing surface that i can see. any tips guys i am really desparate i ahve no clue what to do next. maybe try and hamme the axle back in to atempt to reset it? please help

thanks,
tommy

I ran into the same problem, but my diff was out of the car and the brakes were off. So, I took the wheel cylinder off, inserted a metal rod from the axle tube side and positioned it so the end of the rod contacted the axle flange. Then, I wacked is about 30-40 times with a sledgehammer and it eventually came out. Might be hard with the diff in the car, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

hell yea peeps
problem solved
all it took was 70 lbs worth of freeweights and a chain wraped through them. basically i knocked out a stud oposing the socket hole ran a chain through a 45lber and a 25lber and swung it back and forth between my legs like 20 times. it finally came though. jsut a tip for you guys to use if you ever have the same problem as i did. Thanks Ronstang for all the help man.
