B&M shifter......i hate my life

Went to install my T handle with a button (nitrous activation), first I had to remove the old T handle. The threads were soaked in thread sealer, soo ya went to remove the handle applied heat, put it in a vice etc. The entire stud on the shifter came out along with the t handle What are my options on getting a new stud in there? Weld one in? I really dont have the money for a new shifter, soo dont go there. Thanks guys

Heheh, a can off worms ! If they sell it in your autozone, they make b12 (Berryman) in a container of pure liquid. I would let is set in that for a while. That stuff eats thru plastic cups in a mater of minutes ! It will probably work, but if it doesn't, you can use a p-grinder to cut both sides. Then try to split it with a chisel and hammer. Try the chemical first. You take a chase of damaging the threads the other way.

Do you need to break the thread sealer from the threads? If so, try soaking it in Coca-Cola. Yes, I'm serious. This is how we used to soften up old cable "pull in" compound that dried hard as a rock in metal conduits. Just think, you're actually drinking this stuff.

Its true I have seen the coca cola treatment do wonders. Especially on corroded battery terminals.

Ok I dont think you guys are really understanding the situation. The top of the shifter, where the t handle screws into that long stud, well that entire stud sheered off and is stuck in the T handle. T handle is off with all the threads, in them. NO threads were left in the shifter itself. I would like to know, how in the hell im going to get new threads on the shifter? Do I, A find a bolt, cut the head off, and weld it on top of the shifter? Or B should I get the stud out of the t handle, and weld that back on top? Any other options besides welding? Thanks guys

Hmmm. The new T handle came with a bunch of studs, to adapt to different thread shifters....Im thinking that i just grind the top of the shifter smooth, weld in the new stud and call it a day. Tommorow morning im heading over to a buds house and busting out the welder. Christmas Eve starting off like it should . Ill get back to you and let ya guys know how it went over

Well, headed over to my buds house, we went to weld the new studs that came with the kit on top of the shifter, the aluminum melted within seconds. Drilled about a inch down into the shifter shaft itself, bought a steel stud from a hardware store, tappered one end, drove it into the hole we drilled and JB welded it in place. JB weld is curing right now... I tried soaking the old handle in pepsi (didnt have coke) and it didnt do jack, my easy out snapped when i tried to get that old stud out. Well next ill go thread lock the handle on the stud and call it a day.
