Autos don't seem to show torque like the 5 speeds on a dynojet.

I dont know what to tell you, I would hope for torque #'s around 300 and horsepower a little bit higher. My car was dynoed (when it was AOD) and I put down 226 RWHP and 292 RWTQ. That is through the motorsport jet hot coated shorty's, off road h, mac catback, bumped timing and a K&N cone in the fender. So take what i said for what its worth...

It sounds alittle low to me.

My car with the only real performance mod being an offroad h-pipe and magnaflow catback made 200.3rwhp and 265.2 rwtq going through an AOD. I even had the stock paper filter which has about 30,000 miles on it.

i dont understand why my torque is so low then?? what could cause this? my tranny pressure not being set right or my shift kit might need to be altered or something?

I could be wrong, but maybe because you have a stall and some of the others w/aods had the stock converter so you read a little different on the dyno??

"Gears have nothing to do with the dyno readings.."

They absolutely do, a dynojet measures HP then calculates torque and HP is measured by how fast the car spins the drums at each rpm level. Jumping to steeper gears will spin the drum faster at lower rpms.

Your torque seems low but your HP is on par with it should be, I'll go with everyone else and say it's the AOD/convertor that's throwing tq numbers off.

hmm well i wonder if i shoudl get my shift kit or something switched around since my tq is so low? does anyone else think its cause of my converter? and thumper just told me that those numbers converted to engine hp says i have like 340 engine HP???

You know...I remember seeing a dyno sheet with a Kenne Bell blown 347, and it showed a reading of like 900+ ft lbs of torque...I leanred it was a torque spike or some such crap...I have also heard of auto's doing things on certain dyno's that don't reflect the true numbers...either over or understating them.

My advice, take the car to the track, and see how it performs...you can jimmy a car around on a dyno all day long, in the end, you just need to see how it performs.

I still say your car is plenty healthy. Those numbers are right there with GT40 headed engine combos, and you're doing just fine.

alirght well thanks guys...i feel alittle better now...ill have to take it to the track one weekend and see what happens..
but like those ford engines that are fully built..that have like the gt-40 heads and stuff like that and are suppose to give out 340 hp....is mine doing that also? Mike of thumper heads said it is...but i didnt think there was that much drivetrain loss from 260 at the wheels?

That Dyno has to be tune for a specific torque converter in the dyno is not calibrated it will not red right. If you had a five speed in there it whould show you a huge amount of torque gain but it wont feel like you gain that much.Thats becasue you didn't is in the dynos progaming.Different dyno read differently and also measure power differently.Ask them to calibrate the dyno to you car and make a few runs.Your numbers will probalby be higher.

If you strapped down a GT40 crate motor, and set it up with no accessories, yeah, you'd hit that 340-345 hp mark. Add on AC, power steering, fan, crank pulleys, etc., etc., and you would see that thing knocked down a bit.

Man, you're dead nuts on it...enjoy it.
