After being out of hobby and sport for about 2 years, I'm back and ready to start a new project. I'm jumping into a 89lx 5.0 5spd that all stock with the exception of 3.73s and a cat-back. I want this to be something that I can drive to work, be fun, and do on a budget. The body and interior (aside from a sagging head liner, busted ash tray door, and busted speakers) are in good shape so im going to be spending most of what i have on go fast parts. I've already aquired a cobra intake, 65mm tb, headers, B cam, timing chain, ped mount 1.7s. Im thinking thumper heads will round out this combo nicely..I've been seeing aluminum heads on ebay and other sites really cheap. ProComp and some other company I've never heard of. Any good? I'm thinking there is probably a reason I've never heard of them. haha
Is it worth messing with the headliner or should i pop for a new one from 5.0resto? Do they look good of are they plastic looking?
Anyway...I think thats it....for now...Any ideas, suggestions, comments.
Feels good to be back in the saddle..

Pro Comp is really a hit or miss company... I had a friend who ran them on his 351 at the track, and had no problems, but I've heard of other people getting them and the heads are warped or something right off the bat. IMO, you get what you pay for. If you pay for a $500 set of Pro Comps, you get $500 quality. You pay for AFR's, or something like that - you get AFR quality.

Thats what I figured. I dont have the money to spend for AFR's or I absolutely would go for them or Edelbrocks. Plus, I dont know how long I'll have this car. Like most of my other toys, once I let my friends play with it, they end up owning it..This is a launching point for me to get BACK into the sport..Cant go crazy...Got bills to pay...haha..and a Girlfriend to feed...

Well, we have 2 headliner options for you. If your original headliner board is still good, you can simply scrape it & re-cover it with new Cloth Headliner Material. If the board is bad, then we also have new ABS Plastic Headliner Boards covered in the appropriate color cloth material. No exposed plastic anywhere, just original type foam backed cloth material!

Awesome! I'll probably just go for the ABS board then. I had a hell of a time stretching the headliner back over the board in my old blazer. I've been staring at the car and I think it needs some healights, and sunroof weather stripping...I'll be putting an order in soon...once my credit card stops smoking from holiday shopping...
