Backfiring.....I think it has to do with me "Ghetto Rigging" my distributor cap?

I,m guessing that you need to pull the distributor and clock it so the TFI doesnt hit the manifold. I guess you were trying to get the timing right so it would run correctly?

I never would have even fathomed doing that.
 
flip the cap around. the cap should have a part that protrudes out for that line. like on the cap in this pic...

Mine's a tight fit w/my Typhoon intake even when correct.

FYI: I have a sick chrome powdercoat PS pulley to match the rest of your shiny setup there better than what you've got. LMK, you can have the Stangnet discount ;)
 
Apparently the MSD letters are meant to be viewed through a clear hood from the driver's seat (it's upside down on mine, as viewed from in front of the car).
